Aligning to Autumn

Life is seeming to speed up, get a bit busier and faster, which is interesting in this natural cycle we’re entering - autumn.

Normally in autumn, things slowly begin to quiet and plants around us begin to die back for the winter.

Echinacea keeps blooming and blooming!

Echinacea keeps blooming and blooming!

If we’re at all in tune with nature, our own inner cycles of reflection and contemplation deepen at this time as well.

There’s a draw inward.

And yet societal & work life (for me anyway….   You too?) has been speeding up with more and more on my agenda / calendar.

The way I work with this paradox (my life speeding up while the natural life is slowing down) is by taking mini-breaks and longer evening / sunset breaks to get outside.

I explore my gardens and my flowers / plants (the pics are some of what can be seen there right now).

I ground by standing barefoot on the earth.

I listen intently to nature without distractions.

And I meditate on connection and oneness.

Our happy place

Our happy place

This helps me synchronize and slow myself back down when my mental processes are going full board.

“I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright.”

–Henry David Thoreau
